The History of Squash Factory Schengen-Lëtzebuerg

Founded in July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Squash Factory Schengen-Lëtzebuerg (SFSL) was born at the intersection of three borders, in the symbolic town of Schengen. Our motto “#schengen is alive” reflects our international community where members of different nationalities gather around a common passion.

Our founders drew on their experience gained in Germany’s top squash league to develop the club. After overcoming several administrative challenges, we officially joined the Luxembourg Squash Federation (FSL) in March 2021.

Given the sanitary requirements and the lack of infrastructure, our club has demonstrated its ability to innovate: our Head Coach developed the “One Wall” squash concept and designed a mobile court that is now used to promote the sport in schools and at public events.

Inspired by our first professional player, Ineta Mackeviča-Hopton, we made the promotion of women’s squash our priority. In our very first season 2021/22, our women’s team won the national championship. Despite the cancellation of the women’s championship in 2022/23, we achieved a remarkable double in 2023/24 by winning both the women’s team national championship title and the Luxembourg Cup in the mixed competition, followed by our victory in the women’s cup in 2024/25.

Thanks to our commitment and constant advocacy, the federation reintroduced the women’s cup in 2024, a competition that had not been organized since 2006. Our active presence has marked a turning point in the evolution of women’s competition in Luxembourg, bringing new energy to this discipline

Beyond squash, our club actively participates in social and community projects as well as multi-sport events. We work closely with public institutions to make a positive contribution to the community.

Our philosophy is based on sporting excellence and cross-border partnerships, with coaches all certified at international level. More than a club, we are a family where conviviality is essential. We are committed to promoting women’s sport and the educational development of young people, embodying European values daily in a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.
