Playing Career
Marc boasts an impressive playing history, having secured ten national titles in the Luxembourg Men’s Squash Championships between 1991 and 2002. This achievement positions him as the most decorated male squash player in the country’s history.
In addition to his national success, Thrill was part of a French team from Toulouse that won the national team championship in 1993. He later contributed to further team titles in France in 1995 and 1997. As a member of the Luxembourg national squad, he earned a silver medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe (JPEE), further demonstrating his caliber at international events.
Coaching Career and Bundesliga Experience
Marc Thrill has not only contributed significantly to the development of squash in Luxembourg but has also coached at a high level abroad. He served as a coach in the German Bundesliga, one of Europe’s most competitive squash leagues, where he gained valuable experience working with top-tier international players. This role enhanced his tactical acumen and provided a platform to further refine his coaching philosophy and methodologies.
Coaching and Development Initiatives
Beyond his accomplishments on the court, Marc has been instrumental in promoting and developing squash in Luxembourg:
Innovative One-Wall Squash Projects: He transformed a disused climbing wall in Schengen into two squash ‘front walls,’ enabling up to 20 players to access the sport in each session. These sessions take place twice a week. On Sundays, they are supported by up to three coaches, while on Thursdays, Marc is occasionally joined by Niklas. This initiative has opened the door for many juniors to discover and engage with squash.
Mobile Squash Courts: Thrill developed portable squash courts that can be assembled in public spaces, allowing the sport to reach a broader audience during festivals and open days in Luxembourg and Germany.
Educational Outreach: In collaboration with the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, he has organized training camps for physical education teachers, enabling them to incorporate sStreet Racket into their curricula and further disseminate the sport among students.
Marc Thrill’s multifaceted approach—combining elite performance, international coaching experience, and community engagement—has significantly contributed to the growth and accessibility of squash in Luxembourg. He is available for workshops, private coaching, and team events.
